Living Treasure

Living Treasure: Three Schools Project, published by Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry,
designed and edited by Hiroshi Sako and Fumie Sasaki, printed by Leaf ltd.

The book Living Treasure was given as a gift and I was very happy to recieve it. The book documents the collaboration between three collegial jewelry programs, Akademie Bildenden Kunste, Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry and Royal College of Art. From each program three students were selected to participate in the collaboration. The book profiles each student with a portrait and photographs of his or her work. It also has photographs of events and exhibitions that took place during the collaboration. Presented beautifully the cover is in rich grey, the name of each student embossed and the title standing out in gold leaf. Inside portrait photographs are in black and white while the photographs of the work are in color.

An early Christmas present from Dad

Proclaimed as one of the top tobacco pipe makers in the world, Peterson pipes took my interest. But Peterson pipes can be hard to find, especially a churchwarden. My father procured the pipe given to me from the place of its birth, Dublin Ireland.

Bow ties = Jackass

With the exception of attending a black tie event or owning a fried chicken franchise wearing bow ties are generally a mistake.

Mini Cooper

My wife and I recently brought home a Mini Cooper. The Mini is a great car with a high attention to detail. Floor mats backed with Velcro to prevent movement and rain sensitive wipers are some details Mini designer's considered. My personal favorite is the color changeable accent lighting. A small switch near the driver seat allows one to scroll through the color wheel, pressing the switch in the opposite direction even allows for a color's brightness to be changed.

The Esquire Party Book

The Esquire Party Book is my reference for making cocktails. First printed in 1935 then renewed in 1963 the book covers the classic drinks and many more. It is also greatly illustrated by Seymour Chwast.
